Ann Mitchell R.I.P.

The death has occurred of Ann Mitchell
Maunsells Road, Galway City, Galway

Retired Senior Librarian, Head of Operations, James Hardiman Library (NUIG)

Ann passed away peacefully, at the Galway Hospice, in the loving care of her family and close friends on 22 May 2021. Ann bore her illness with courage, dignity and determination.

Sadly missed by her sisters Dorothy (and her husband Seamus Robinson) and Sheila (and her partner Martin Garvey), by her Uncle Michael, her cousins in Ireland, England and America, extended family, colleagues and friends in the James Hardiman Library and throughout the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) campus. Fondly remembered and loved by her close circle of friends. She is pre-deceased by her parents Joseph and Catherine.

May Ann Rest in Peace.

Mass at 12 noon on Wednesday, 26th May, at the Church of Christ the King, Salthill. Funeral after Mass to the new cemetery Bohermore.


Joan Lynch ( R.I.P.)

Joan Lynch (née Moran)
Glenard Crescent, Salthill, Galway / Bohola, Mayo

Joan passed away peacefully at home with her daughters at her side, after a short illness, bravely borne. Joan is predeceased by her beloved husband Bert, brother Bill and parents Mary and Thomas Moran.

Joan is leaving behind her three heartbroken daughters, Sinead, Marie and Edel, sons-in-law Craig, Glenn and Morgan and her adoring grandchildren, Ella, Oisin, Oliver, Alice, Nate, Maeve, Laura and Isabel. Deeply missed by her brothers John, Gerry, Tommy and Pat and sister Aine, her extended family, neighbours and wide circle of friends.

A private Requiem Mass for Joan will be celebrated on Thursday, 6th of May, at 12 p.m. at the Church of Christ the King, Salthill. Funeral after Mass to Rahoon Cemetery. The Mass will be live-streamed as the attendees at the Church and the cemetery are restricted to 25 in accordance with current government guidelines.

The family would like to thank you for your sympathy and support at this difficult time.

In the home you are going to.

You are not going somewhere strange,

Merely back to the home you have never left.

May her beautiful soul rest in peace.

Colum Spelman R.I.P.

Colum Spelman R.I.P.  (Rockbarton Rd)

Colum died peacefully in the loving care of the Galway Hospice with his family by his side on Saturday, morning 1st May, 2021. Pre-deceased by his wife Beata, his parents John and Breda and his brothers Eamon and Ray. Much loved father of Norbert, Conor, Martha, Matthew, John, Elish, Beatrice and Pauline and companion and best friend to Mary. Sadly missed and mourned by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and by Mary, his sister-in-law Elizabeth and her husband John, the extended family, neighbours and friends.

Leaving from his home on Tuesday morning 4rd May to arrive for Requiem Mass at 11 a.m. at the Church of Christ the King, Salthill. Funeral after Mass to Rahoon Cemetery. Mass will be live-streamed.

The attendance at the church, outside the church door and at the cemetery will be limited to 25 people in accordance with current government guidelines.

Family flowers only please. Memorial donations if preferred to the Galway Hospice.
